To me, Tanzania was mostly Mt. Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Zanzibar, those who came for our Product training you would recall that is how my map was also drawn. I was blown away about 5 minutes into #SerenaHotels presentation when I saw all the amazing things Tanzania had to offer, I guess that is why Product trainings are so great, they open your eyes to the world of possibilities that for us didn’t exist and the onus is thus on us to educate our clients about these, Here are the Key things on which you can expect to hear from me in the coming weeks.

MIVUMO RIVER LODGE

The Selous Game Reserve is one of the largest faunal reserves of the world, located in the south of Tanzania. What is inspiring here is the beautiful accommodation that Serena Hotels has called The Mivumo River Lodge, located by the banks of the River Rufiji, 12 spacious chalets each with its own private viewing deck, sun loungers, plunge pool and outdoor shower

Lake Manyara National Park

One of Tanzania’s smaller and most underrated parks. While it may lack the size and variety of other northern-circuit destinations (there’s pretty much one main north–south route through the park), its vegetation is diverse, ranging from savannah to marsh to evergreen forest (11 ecosystems in all) and it supports one of the highest biomass densities of large mammals in the world. The chance to see elephant families moving through the forest or Lake Manyara’s famous population of tree-climbing lions (although sighting them is becoming increasingly rare) are alone reason enough to come. The lake is home to over 300 migratory birds including flamingoes, long-crested eagles and grey-headed kingfisher; The lodge is designed to mimic this extraordinary birdlife, with an architectural motif featuring swooping avian curves and vibrantly coloured wall frescoes depicting the intricacy of bird migratory patterns.

Ngorongoro Crater

Pick a superlative: amazing, incredible, breathtaking…they all apply to the stunning, ethereal blue-green vistas of the Ngorongoro Crater. But as wonderful as the views are from above, the real magic happens when you get down inside and drive among an unparalleled concentration of wildlife, including the highest density of both lions and overall predators in Africa. One of the continent’s premier attractions, this renowned natural wonder is deservedly a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Now add to this, a Lodge which is built from local stone on the rim of the crater and is camouflaged with indigenous vines so as to blend entirely into the landscape, furthermore the rooms are strung around the crater rim, each with its own rock-enclosed balcony with stunning views of the crater

Serengeti National Park

One of the greatest spectacles on Earth starts in Serengeti, Few people forget their first encounter with the Serengeti. Perhaps it’s the view from Naabi Hill at the park’s entrance, from where the grasslands appear to stretch to the ends of the earth. Or maybe it’s a coalition of lions stalking across open plains, their manes catching the breeze. Or it could be wildebeest and zebra migrating in their millions, following the ancient rhythm of Africa’s seasons. Whatever it is, Serengeti is one of the greatest wildlife-watching destinations on earth

Serengeti Safari Lodge

Set high on the saddle of a tree-clad ridge, commanding panoramic views across the Serengeti, this lodge is the ultimate fusion of traditional African architecture and world-class style. It is a winner of numerous awards from the world travel press,  perhaps one of the most unique properties the Serengeti has to offer.

MBUZI MAWE SERENA CAMP

Picture this, waking up to the sounds of wildlife outside your camp,  a peek from your Tent window brings you face to face with Zebras and Wildebeests.located on one of the main annual wildlife migration corridors this camp brings you face to face with the Wildlife. You can’t get any closer to them there here.
